Defunct soon to be deprecated

I've started to work on a 2.0 of User:Audit Bee (audit-refactor branch). In it, I'm planning on using a progressive backoff for websites that for whatever reason don't respond (slow, down, API denied, etc). This will replace the current +defunct status, with the intent being that a website may go offline for 6 months, during that time Audit Bee will remove collection flags, and recheck periodically, then re-enable when it comes back online. So, don't spend a lot of time marking things +defunct for now. 🐝 thingles (talk) 12:15, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Can't believe I missed the opportunity to use the subject "Defunct to be defunct". :-) 🐝 thingles (talk) 12:25, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Fixed HTML Entities in Extension names

Just an FYI in case you don't see Issue:Remove HTML encoding in Extension names, I just fixed this. Notably SMW fails if you tell it the a property name has HTML entities embedded in it. The net of this is that I expect some extensions that had never registered right to start showing up. Notably, older versions of Extension:Semantic MediaWiki liked to embed a   in their name (including invalid HTML entities &160; -- no pound sign), so more sites that use those old versions will start to appear now. See diff and diff. 🐝 thingles (talk) 02:41, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Nice fix. Apart from this SMW has other problems (somewhere on bugzilla) with URLs too which should be resolved at one point or the other. --[[kgh]] (talk) 07:02, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Spammers

Seems like they've breached my clever questy config. Damn. Will look at morphing it shortly. 🐝 thingles (talk) 21:47, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

I am a bit puzzled as well as shocked about it, too. However, I does not seem to be a general breach. --[[kgh]] (talk) 07:27, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
They are using @hotmail.com and @outlook.com email addresses, and they are confirming them. I'm going to remove the hour and day GMT questy tests and see if those are the weakpoints. 🐝 thingles (talk) 13:17, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I'm now only using the nth character in string questy test. I also injected some HTML comments in the directive for the nth. We'll see what happens. :-\ 🐝 thingles (talk) 13:20, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Orain

Hi there. I'm a system administrator at Orain. I noticed that WikiApiary isn't currently detecting new wikis on our farm. We already have SiteMatrix installed. Is it possible for WikiApiary to use that data? Is there any other way we can help the bots collect information? Kudu (talk) 02:36, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for signing up and checking out WikiApiary. We don't currently have any bots that use Extension:SiteMatrix. It would be a nice thing to have, but not there yet. Looking at usage though it seems to be mostly just used in the foundation sites, and we have a special wmbot to deal with the foundations farm Farm:Wikimedia. It looked like there were just a few wikis to add so I just used the bookmarklet and added them by hand for now. 🐝 thingles (talk) 03:56, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
