Note: 'NeoWiki' is the collective used to describe MediaWiki-powered wiki sites, based upon video games, anime and / or manga, comics, TV shows, or other similar hobbies. They are displayed with a custom skin, and are hosted on Neoseeker (with all wiki sites being a sub-domain of Neoseeker.com), who in turn are owned by Neo Era Media, Inc. (founded 1999).
Neoseeker promotes itself as an alternative to Wikia. Whilst it is true that NeoWikis are free to create, free to host, and free of enforced politics, with no annoying pop-ups, 'less' advertising, and claim to "have a strong focus on our community", it would appear they are a valid alternative to Wikia. However, it is crucial to note that unlike Wikia who primarily use the free-to-share Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike (CC-BY-SA) license, Neoseeker are the exact opposite, in that every wiki must agree to sign over copyright to its parent company, Neo Era Media, Inc.
