Misreports version, manually audited

I just manually audited this website and set the collection flags right. This wiki reports itself as "MediaWiki 1.0.2-ED" so User:Audit Bee doesn't really know what to do with it. Seeing this actually makes me think that perhaps I should change how Audit Bee works. Right now it looks at the version number and then sets flags determined off of known capabilities of that version. Similar to the changes in User:Bumble Bee to just collect everything, I could change Audit Bee to simply probe the data it looks for and turn on and off what it can based on what the wiki correctly answers, regardless of the version it reports. So, this wiki says it is 1.0.2-ED but who cares since when I ask it what extensions it has it responds with a valid answer. Hmm. Thoughts? 🐝 thingles (talk) 21:02, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

I think it's important to get it working and providing the data since this is a rather popular wiki. By the way, I notice that when I do this search, one of the sitelinks is to the "View source" page. I guess they switched off noindex for that page, huh? (See this example for instructions on how to do this on your own wiki)

Pretty unusual, but I think it could be advantageous since it might allow the Internet Archive to store the raw wikitext. (If I go to, say, https://web.archive.org/web/20131017141030/http://nathania.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page&action=edit, it says "Page cannot be crawled or displayed due to robots.txt."; however, https://web.archive.org/web/20131205042029/https://encyclopediadramatica.es/index.php?title=Feminism&action=edit works.) I've often wished that I could obtain the raw wikitext for wiki pages that now no longer exist anywhere but the Internet Archive; that way, I could have put the content in one of my own wikis. I wish ED had created a page to describe the various hacks they've made to MediaWiki; it would probably be interesting reading. Leucosticte (talk) 04:40, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
