Description:

SketchUp Wiki is about Trimble Sketchup, a 3D modeling tool for googlers to use for designing just about anything you'd like.

Google Sketchup was bought by Google in 2006 from @Last software. The main idea behind the takeover was the plugin @Last Software provided for the Sketchup users to plant the 3D models in Google Earth by giving them a geographic location. Then trimple bought Google Sketchup and renamed it "Trimble Sketchup".

Trimble Sketchup is still often used for this, but also other uses have been found. Architects design buildings in SU, and furniture companies promote their latest creations on the 3Dwarehouse (3DWH). Also it's just fun to use, and you can show you own creations online by uploading them!
