date of validation and activation

Do I have to set this manually? --[[kgh]] (talk) 20:01, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

No. If you use the autoedit buttons it will set them for you. It would be too much effort to have people set them all the time manually. I'm undecided if they will even stay. :-\ Only useful thing so far is for them is to not share the Web site until X days after activation but there are easier (automated) ways to do that. Thanks for asking. Thingles (talk) 20:05, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

WikiTeam fields

Hi. The WikiTeam fields to add backup urls, date, and so are missing. Please update. Emijrp (talk) 11:52, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Okay, they aren't pretty but I moved them from hidden fields to visible ones. Beware that the bot will overwrite them at anytime. 🐝 thingles (talk) 03:40, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Option for alternative backups / database dumps

WikiTeam do a fantastic job of backing up many wiki sites, and this form is set up perfectly for recording the WikiTeam backups. However, there are also viable alternatives too, and those either do not 'fit' within the current schema for recording the WikiTeam entries, or any non-WikiTeam backups could get overwritten by the WikiTeam bot!

So my question is - can we have an additional field (or two) for other types of database dump. My specific thoughts are twofold:

The first is the highly organised and fully automated database dumps from Wikimedia Downloads, at Dumps.Wikimedia.org. Because these are very regularly updated, it would be impossible to record an actual date of the most recent dump file, so the URL field would just contain the location of the specific dump (in the same manner as the WikiTeam URL field), but any date field would need to be left void, and display something like 'unknown or dynamic date'.

The second is the Wikia / Fandom backups, as found (if actually available) at the bottom of their 'Special:Statistics' page. Wikia / Fandom now use S3 from Amazon AWS to host their backups, and when they are available, they offer the limited or current data backup, along with the 'full-fat' backup which includes the entire edit histories. These Wikia dump files rarely get updated, but they are listed with a date and time of backup, so that can be accurately recorded here on WikiApary.

Your thoughts please. Sean, aka Hoof HeartedWikiIndex staff, 'crat, SMW admin, sysoptalk2HH 03:19, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
